First off, we see what a humble setting Luke depicts (vv. 26–28). Note as well how unabashedly supernatural the Bible is! Gabriel is sent ‘from God to … Nazareth.’ No trick really to negotiate that. Supernatural but not mythological, for the account is riddled with concrete people and actual places—this is not in the orbit of Peter Pan and Never-never-land. But note the places and people.
